Bandsaw Shaft Replacement
Sometimes, parts fail. Sometimes, replacement parts cost hundreds of dollars. The goal for this project was to replace the destroyed driveshaft for my shop's old bandsaw using materials we had on hand.
We happened to have a salvaged section of car axle shaft, which we believed was 4130 or 4140 steel that was nearly perfect in diameter for this project. After a few hours of machining, we produced a shaft that was within 0.001" of the original, and has since lasted hundreds of hours of regular use without any signs of wear.
Military Commemorative Plaque
This plaque was made to commemorate the time served by a local member of the armed forces, before they were transferred to another unit. This piece was commissioned by other members of this individual's unit and was customized using provided images that were laser engraved onto a brass silhouette cutout of the state of California. The backboard was hand selected, stained, and sealed, and the California silhouette was permanently fixed in place.

Volkswagen "Roller" Gas Pedal
Designed to replace the cheap and poorly made "roller" gas pedals commonly available for classic Volkswagens, this pedal was made out of solid billet 2" aluminum round stock, bored for the bolt / axle, and counterbored for size 608 bearings. After that, the engraving was done using a drag engraving bit on our CNC mill, and the final was to knurl the outside diameter.
The pedal attaches to the same lever arm as the cheap ones using a 5/16" shoulder bolt, or one of the custom lever arms our shop provides.
